From March 4-8, 2015, diamond solitaire rings, emerald colliers, strings of pearls as well as elaborated jade jewellery will glitter and sparkle, each trying to outshine the other at the 32nd edition of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, a specialized trade platform for loose stones and jewellery raw materials, will start two days earlier at the AsiaWorld-Expo. Since the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) divided the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show into two separate events in 2014, in order to meet the exhibitors´ and buyers´ requirements for more exhibition space and to maximize buyers´ sourcing opportunities, both shows represent the world’s largest jewellery marketplace.
Already in the first year both fairs attracted over 3,800 exhibitors and more than 74,000 buyers – significantly more than in the year before. Besides the new jewellery collections visitors can expect two design award competitions, giving insight into the jewellery design of the future: the biennial International Jewellery Design Excellence Award and the 16th edition of the Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition.
Debut of the “Treasures of Craftsmanship” zone
The variety of products at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show ranges from premium gold, silver and antique jewellery with diamonds, colored gemstones, semi-precious stones and pearls to watches, jewellery accessories and equipment and packaging material. The fair features several thematic zones, such as the “Hall of Fame” with its international brands and jewellery collections or the “World of Glamour” which boasts a wide array of jewellery designs and collections of Hong Kong-based designers. Breath-taking pieces of fine jewellery by a carefully selected group of jewellers are presented in the “Hall of Extraordinary”, allowing international buyers and exhibitors to do business in a graceful, relaxing environment. Moreover, the “Hall of Time” showcases rare and extraordinary watches and clocks. The “Treasures of Craftsmanship” zone will make its debut at the upcoming trade fair: It is a specifically designed new zone for decorative items which have been carefully created such as carvings from precious and semi-precious stones, gold or silver and precious ornaments.
Various countries, including Germany, will showcase their expertise and ideas in different joint pavilions. Fiera di Vicenza will return with its “T-GOLD INTERNATION Pavilion” to present innovative technological solutions for jewellery production proposed by Italian industry experts and “TRENDVISION Jewellery + Forecasting” to identify the trends and prediction of future jewellery.
Marketplace for diamond, gem and pearl trading
During its premier in 2014, the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show attracted more than 1,500 exhibitors and about 29,000 buyers. The 2nd edition from March 2-6, 2015 will again focus on jewellery raw materials, loose diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones and pearls in particular. In addition to that, specific thematic zones will be dedicated to carat-size loose diamonds and gemstones in different high-end cuts. The 2015 edition will also add the “Treasures of Ocean” zone featuring a wide variety of quality pearls.
