The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair (the September Fair) will kick off on Tuesday, 14 September, at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), where exhibitors from around the world will showcase loose diamonds, pearls, coloured gemstones, and equipment and packaging products.
The Fair at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), which houses the fine finished jewellery exhibits, will open on Thursday, 16 September.
All booths in more than 120,000 square metres of exhibition space in both venues were sold out by early August. More than 3,200 companies – 5 percent more than last year — from 45 countries and regions are exhibiting, making this edition the largest since its launch 27 years ago. The growth in the number of exhibitors this year cements the September Fair’s standing as the world’s number one fine jewellery event. Fair organiser UBM Asia Ltd expects the Fair to attract 40,000 buyers from 140 countries and regions.
Overwhelming participation
This year, the September Fair again features the largest-ever Diamond Pavilion. In addition to groups from the Antwerp World Diamond Centre and the Israel Diamond Institute, a group of diamond exhibitors from the United States and the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India will exhibit in the Diamond Pavilion.
India is this edition’s “Pavilion of the Year”. Over 130 Indian exhibitors will showcase a wide range of jewellery, diamonds and gemstones and other jewellery-related raw materials.
The Fair features 22 group pavilions representing: Afghanistan, Antwerp, Brazil, China, Colombia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, and the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA). Among them, Thailand is the largest overseas pavilion at the Fair, featuring over 300 Thai companies.
The September Fair is the largest showcase of Hong Kong jewellery. This year, exhibiting under the Hong Kong Pavilion at AWE and HKCEC are over 400 and almost 800 jewellery companies, respectively.
