Victor Mayer - A “key moment” of a special kind

February 2013

For Valentine’s Day Victor Mayer created some exquisite and sophisticated pendants. They are in the form of a key and have a metaphorical meaning: the wearer only opens up to people that she considers worthy. Inspiration was found in the company archives in the form of an art deco safe key.

The glass melting process that gives the jewellery its unmistakeable, sophisticated sheen is conducted today using the same complex process that was employed in the past: up to five layers of pigment are applied with equal measures of skill and patience, before being fired and then polished by hand.

The end result is achieved as the consequence of sensitive interplay between time and temperature. The slightest inclusion in the enamel bears witness to the hand craftsmanship employed, making each individual jewel unmistakeable.

Victor Mayer manufactures fire enamel pieces in numerous colours: from fiery red to intensive green and deepest black, forming the perfect stage for selected gemstones or exquisite engravings.

Jewellery in genuine so-called fire enamel is extremely rare, as this method of manufacture has all but died out in this age. This serves to make these rarities all the more coveted by collectors and lovers of exclusive craftsmanship.

Each piece of Victor Mayer jewellery is produced in a strictly limited and numbered edition which is recorded in the archives of the company.
