The winner of Platinum Innovation Award : Nina Georgia Friesleben

August 2010

For the third time, the Platinum Innovation Award, supported by PGI, has brought about an innovative idea. The 2010 Prize was awarded to Nina Georgia Friesleben of Düsseldorf, Germany, for her unconventional platinum ring.

Nina Georgia Friesleben plays with light and reflections, with harmony and tension, and with the exciting opposition between soft forms and austere geometry. Her “Moule” ring, which won this year’s Platinum Innovation Prize, initiated by the inhorgenta europe fair, is inspired by nature and alludes to the shape of a flower’s calyx. Reduced to the bare essentials, its gently tapering shape is penetrated by the ring’s slender band, which assures that the stylized floral calyx remains correctly positioned on the wearer’s hand – like an open vessel floating lightly above the finger.
