In an official ceremony attended by His Excellency The President of Tanzania, Dr Jakaya.M. Kikwete, TanzaniteOne Mining Limited was awarded several Presidential Awards on Extractive Industries in Corporate Social Responsibility and Empowerment (CSRE) for the year 2012.
TanzaniteOne Mining Ltd is the world’s largest and most scientifically advanced miner and marketer of Tanzanite, the blue-violet gemstone found in only one place on earth.
The Awards are held annually and acknowledge companies with outstanding performances in the categories of: Community Well-Being and Sustainability, Human Resource Development and Training, Local Procurement and Industry Participation, Water and Environment Development Programs, Social Welfare (housing and health services) and, Infrastructure Development (roads and electricity).
TanzaniteOne was First in both the Water and Empowerment programs, while taking second place in both Education and Employment. They won second place overall in the Medium Scale Mineral Projects Category.
