Paul Wild - Bright sight of light

February 2019

Inspired by Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2019, Living Coral, Paul Wild has painted its own brilliant sunrise in gemstone layouts that blend fancy colours in African tourmalines around golden yellow beryl from Brazil.

Among the dreamscapes that Paul Wild designed for this trend a collier, ring and earrings suite composed of 71 gemstones totalling 176.74 carats. Evoking the joy and optimism of a new day, the necklace radiates from a 39.4-carat golden beryl cabochon, with four cascading tiers of pear-shaped tourmalines in a mix of sizes and shades, rose to violet. The collier wraps around the neck with tourmalines in cool lilac tones enriched by the warm glow of the central beryl.

The tourmaline in these new suites is from a new parcel of material that includes shades of red, light to intense, as well as green.

“We chose this theme to express the spirit of Living Coral, which is radiant and joyful,” tells CEO Markus Paul Wild. He points out that the coral colour is difficult to find in transparent gems, so this layout offers another interpretation of the inspiration it imparts with matching colours and stones.

A 22.01-carat cushion-cut tourmaline is highlighted for the ring, and 10 pear-shaped tourmalines in ascending size and colour saturation are in the layout for matching dangle earrings (10.05 total carat weight).
