With this collection, Ornella is sharing her fascination for geology and mineralogy, exposing the fundamental beauty of nature’s architecture.
Each piece features a mineral variety – or “Nature’s work of art”as the artist-jeweller described it - such as tourmaline, garnets, beryls (emeralds & aqua-marine) in their natural state; all carefully combined with cut stones into bold architectural compositions. The inspiration behind the pieces of jewellery comes directly from each specimen selected. Ornella has focussed on the strength of character of each stone, as well as on the details of their crystallization or inclusions. Through the metal work, she enhanced these particularities, continuing the artwork that Nature started billions of years ago. Textures and colours play an important part in this continuation, and these harmonious combinations contribute to bring a sort of magical aspect to the jewels, which become almost like talismans.
