The 637 carat Mouawad L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace has been certified by the Guinness World Records as the most valuable necklace in the world.
“This is the fourth time that Mouawad has received a certificate from the authority of Guinness World Records and it’s another of those remarkable moments in history for our family”, said Pascal Mouawad, Guardian of the Mouawad Retail Division, after the record was announced by the Guinness World Records just days ago.
This impressive diamond necklace which embraces the Incomparable Diamond—the world’s largest internally flawless diamond—stole the show at the recent Doha Jewellery & Watch Exhibition where it made its global debut.
The Mouawad L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace features the 407.48 carats modified shield step-cut yellow diamond suspended beneath 229.52 carats of cascading, strikingly white diamonds that are sublimely interlaced in 18K rose gold branchlets. The necklace, created using a total of 91 diamonds, was entirely designed and crafted by Mouawad’s skilled artisans and is a resounding testament to their profound creativity and virtuosity with this latest bespoke offering—valued at $55 million USD.
In its rough state weighing 890 carats, the Incomparable Diamond made a long serendipitous journey before reaching Mouawad. It was in 1980 in the Democratic Republic of Congo that a little girl found the diamond in a rubble pile of kimberlite that was sorted out because it was considered to be too bulky to possess any diamonds. The diamond eventually made its way into the hands of renowned diamond expert Marvin Samuels who spent four years supervising the cutting the stone into its present flawless form. It was then put on display at several museums with the first one being the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC.

The Mouawad L’ Incomparable Diamond Necklace Guinness World Record follows the records achieved by the US$3.8 million Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse – the most valuable handbag in the world – in 2010; the US$11 million Very Sexy Fantasy Bra – the world’s most expensive bra –in 2003; and by the Mouawad Splendor a 11 sided pear—‐shaped mixed cut D flawless diamond weighing 101.84 carats – at the time, the most expensive diamond sold at auction for US $12.76 million – in 1990.
