2010 has been an amazing year for Carrera y Carrera. Earlier this year, the famed Spanish fine jewelry house, Carrera y Carrera was acquired fully by a private foreign investor who boasts an international portfolio with interests in various sectors of the economy.
Carrera y Carrera changes hands while maintaining its essence as an artisan jewelry workshop and its independence as a luxury fine jewelry brand.
The former owner of the brand, the Lladró Family, had initially acquired it in 2002 and decided last year to seek a new shareholder for the jewelry company.
The new owner of Carrera y Carrera is accustomed to international challenges, appreciative of luxury and a lover of art, and therefore, sees this is a long-term investment with the renowned brand. Preferring to remain discreetly in the background of the company, the new owner is allowing Carrera y Carrera’s senior management team to bring to fruition an ambitious 5-year plan that will receive significant financial support.
In June, Carrera y Carrera set up its new American subsidiary with an office on Madison Avenue in New York City, Carrera y Carrera Americas, Inc., which will cover and service not only the US market but the entire continent. Former consultant, then Vice President, Thierry Collot, has been chosen to take on the role of President of Carrera y Carrera America, Inc. His experience of many years working with companies including LVMH and Bertolucci gives him an innate understanding of the inner workings of the brand and the fine jewelry markets in the Americas. Carrera y Carrera is also developing their business in major international markets including Japan, Russia and China, as a part of the company’s expansion.
In moving forward with their expansion on the US market, Carrera y Carrera has retained luxury PR firm, D’Orazio & Associates. D’Orazio & Associates will work to bring maximum exposure to Carrera y Carrera, while educating press and influencers on the company’s rich heritage. The company is working to make Carrera y Carrera re-gain its position as a household name in the Americas alongside this new era of the company.
With these changes, Carrera y Carrera carries on as a jeweler always faithful to its craftsmanship and unique style, recognized and appreciated worldwide. The Madrid born company, once provider of fine jewelry to Spanish royals and nobility, is looking at this as a re-birth for the brand and an opportunity to bring the essence of Carrera y Carrera to an international audience carrying forward with their traditional spirit and the brand’s signature stamped in gold.
