Specialists in Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds, Kulsen & Hennig known for their wide range of diamonds in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes present the new colour card for Mixed Coloured Diamonds.
Mixed Coloured Diamonds
In addition to possessing exceptional fire, diamonds are the hardest of all gemstones and display the broadest range of colours. Mixed coloured diamonds are more common than diamonds in pure colours like yellow, pink, orange, green, brown, grey or blue. In either case, however, diamonds only obtain the grading prefix “Fancy” if their colour produces a certain effect at a distance. To describe the saturation of the hue, the colour is preceded by the terms Light, Intense, Vivid, Deep and Dark.
Colour Description
The various colour components are named in sequence. The modifying colour that has the lowest proportion comes first. The other colours are then given in ascending order, ending with the main colour which is mentioned last. If the proportion of a secondary colour is very low, the endings “y” or “ish” are used. (Example: Fancy Orangy Yellow / Fancy Yellowish Brown)
Of course, these detailed descriptions can never fully capture or differentiate each subtle shade exactly because Natural Fancy Coloured Diamonds have been individually crafted by nature.
