Rising fine jewellery brand iKuria announces the launch of the new Laika collection to be showcased at the international trade jewellery show Inhorgenta in Munich on 22nd - 25th February.

The gold range of the Laika collection uses 18 karat yellow gold, yellow and orange sapphires, tsavorite and grey Akoya pearls sourced directly from designer Ikuko Kurahone’s home country Japan. The focus of the design is to add movement to a ring. The pearl charm moves around the finger like a child’s toy, bringing a smile to everyone’s face. This design adds another dimension to iKuria’s range of playful, light and unique fine jewellery.

- Laika pearl gold necklace
The design was inspired by science and the story of Laika, the little dog behind human spaceflight. Laika was a stray dog found in the streets of Moscow. She was trained and launched in the Sputnik 2 in 1957 as the first animal to orbit the earth. Shortly before her launch, one of the scientists took Laika home to play with his children: “I wanted to do something nice for her. She had so little time left to live”. * Laika now still is somewhere in the sky.
