Graal Joaillier - Catherine II collection

December 2013

Catherine II, Empress of Russia and also known as Catherine the Great, was a strong and seductive woman who was passionate about French culture. She was a patron of the arts, literature and the Enlightenment and was close to Voltaire, Diderot, Alembert and Grimm without ever allowing the spirit of the French Revolution to question the feudal government of the Russian nobility.

Catherine II demonstrated an unrivalled talent for politics which enabled her to reign over Russia for over 34 years. She constantly strived to elevate Russia to be amongst the greatest nations and created a luxury artistic style bearing her name.

Graal Joaillier has dedicated the Catherine II collection to the grandeur and majesty of Imperial Russia’s golden age and the spirit of the Enlightenment.

Graal Joaillier has taken inspiration from the imperial Hermitage gardens and created magnificent rows of sparkling diamonds punctuated by the pastoral candour of colourful sapphire and diamond petals.
