The Greek fashion and watch brand hasn’t been around for long. But from what we’ve seen from them at Baselworld, we expect their watch collection to shine bright.
If you think that you’re unfamiliar with the FF Group, think again. You might have already perused through their watches and jewellery at a Folli Follie store in a shopping centre or at a busy airport. You might also own something by award winning British jeweller Links of London.
Both brands are a part of a broad portfolio of global subsidiaries of the FF Group. The Greek consortium – which specializes in jewellery, timepieces, and fashion accessories - has been definitely noticed recently for its solid performance. Its sales were hardly hit by the Asian crisis over a year ago. In fact, quite the opposite – their brands continue to do quite well on the Asian markets.
Part of that success is thanks to the healthy numbers posted by the Folli Follie brand, which was founded in 1982. Appealing to a posh cosmopolitan crowd, their watch division definitely personifies this understated and contemporary design aesthetic.
At Baselworld 2016, the brand introduced the Santorini Flower Twist watch collection. The collection consists of timepieces set in rose gold sheen with a dominant mother of pearl motif. A useful feature of the watch is the ability to change its colored leather strap to another color or to a ceramic bracelet, with a simple twist of the bezel.
The new Santorini Flower Twist Collection is certainly refined and clean. At the same time, the interchangeable characteristics can accommodate all tastes, moods and needs.
Less “fashion watch” and more “mechanical timepiece”, the brand’s Heart4Heart Diaphanous watch collection offers something different. The collection fuses modern elements into a timepiece that aspired to become a classic.
The big draw of the watch is the Heart4Heart motif on the dial, which cleverly reveals part of the watch’s automatic movement. The design is otherwise discreet and familiar, featuring a dial with roman indexes on a rose-gold plated case. The leather straps come in an array of colours, allowing countless stylish combinations.
With nearly 1,000 global points of sale for the FF Group, expect to see more Folli Follie watches in a department store near you. Clean, elegant and affordable, look for their designs to start filling the gap that is being gradually opened by the slumping sales of the high end luxury brands. www.follifollie.com
