Damiani - Maji charity collection

December 2010

As a brand ambassador for Damiani, actress Sharon Stone has been associated with the Italian jewelry house for two years now. But with the launch of the brand’s new “Maji” charity collection, Stone can officially add co-designer to her resume.

At an international launch event held Nov. 30, Stone and Silvia Damiani, company vice president, introduced guests to the collection’s rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets crafted in brushed yellow gold with rough diamonds. Named in honor of the Swahili word for “water,” the collection will benefit Drop in the Bucket, a nonprofit that works to provide clean water and sanitation to children in Africa.

At the launch event, Stone and Damiani presented Drop in the Bucket with a check for $200,000, which, along with a private donation from the Damiani family, will underwrite the construction of 50 new water wells in Africa, providing clean water to more than 10,000 people.

The Sharon Stone for Damiani Maji Collection includes jewelry for both men and women, with materials evocative of the warmth and natural heritage of Africa, the brand said.
