Neon colours are in –
as shown by the fashion weeks in London, Berlin and
other fashion centres. "Gemstones in neon colours are far
more sophisticated“says Constantin Wild, explaining:”You see neon-coloured clothing fairly often – but
gemstones in neon colours are and will continue to be
coveted rarities."
This neon-blue Paraiba tourmaline, at
14.26 carats, comes from Mozambique. |
Turquoise – yellow – shocking pink: the gemstone
merchant from Idar-Oberstein, knows that coloured gemstones in
neon colours really are regarded as very special.
This 14.13-carat oval canary
tourmaline
comes from Malawi |
Paraiba and canary tourmalines are new discoveries, each being
found in only two places worldwide. Not only that, but
the deposits are tiny, and only a few individual
specimens, or very small specimens, are of gemstone
quality.
This cushion-shaped pink topaz from
Ouro Preto in Brazil weighs 33.32
carats. |
The pink topaz is also very rare – even more so
when it shines out in really fluorescent tones.
