Alessio Boschi has been named Italian Jewellery Designer of the Year at the UK Jewellery Award’s gala ceremony at Grosvenor House, London last night. This prestigious event is widely regarded as one of the most important international jewellery awards, with a fiercely independent judging process and panel that includes industry heavyweights Nadja Swarovski and Stephen Webster.

Three years ago, Rosario Autore entrusted the design of the Group’s branded South Sea pearl jewellery collections to Alessio Boschi, a young exciting and visionary Italian jewellery designer. With access to AUTORE’s unique range of South Sea pearls, Alessio has achieved extraordinary results; the creation of inspiringly beautiful and dynamic pearl jewellery that redefines the image of pearl jewellery by marrying truly innovative design, exquisite craftsmanship and, naturally, extraordinary pearls. Rosario Autore had been looking for a designer with unbridled talent and personality to create jewellery embracing his own vision; ‘to put passion and personality into every aspect of our work with pearls and to push the boundaries of pearl jewellery design. We wanted a designer to embody the tale of the pearl’s journey from the ocean to the red carpet’, and Alessio, with his love of nature and organic forms, was the perfect fit. ‘AUTORE gives me the freedom to create beautiful pieces using wonderful South Sea pearls in my signature style,’ Alessio enthuses. ‘Along with customers who continue to praise the collections, it’s of course fabulous to see AUTORE designs being recognised by professionals in the industry.’
The bespoke jewellery pieces creating a storm in the international jewellery world include gem-encrusted sea creatures from the Oceania collection, the innovative use of diamond slices and other unique gems in Fire & Ice, and for the first time, the application of material such as titanium. Each piece in every collection is centred around a magnificent, hand-selected South Sea pearl.
‘After the success achieved this year at both Baselworld and Vicenzaoro, the UK Jewellery Award confirms that AUTORE produces quality jewellery that captures the imagination of the public and industry alike,’ adds Rosario. ‘It’s important that we are able to deliver our vision; to produce exciting and beautiful pearl jewellery featuring spectacular and innovative designs and to recognise and pursue opportunities even in challenging times.’
The UK Jewellery Award is the third major international award for AUTORE over the past year, following the Best New Jewellery Collection in 2008 for Vogue, Spain and the Best Pearl Design Award at the Las Vegas Couture Show last year.
