“Incontri d’Autunno” in Arezzo: real support for jewellery exports

November 2009

Organisers and participants had very positive comments to make on the fourth “Incontri d’Autunno” international jewellery workshop held at the Centro Affari in Arezzo from 27 to 29 October.

More than 130 companies – mostly from Arezzo but also Vicenza and other Italian production centres – met fifty top buyers from 22 countries: Bahrain, Canada, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Israel Japan Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Mexico, Morocco, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the USA. There were more than 1,300 carefully planned work meetings, most of which produced satisfactory results.

Giovanni Tricca, president of the organising company as well as of the Arezzo Chamber of Commerce said, “At a time when jewellery exporters are redoubling their efforts in the main markets around the world to consolidate and hopefully expand their presence, our initiative has provided real support to the work of businessmen, helping them strengthen their faith in the future.”

International buyers selected by the event organisers were previously informed about the output of the companies taking part and had already indicated which ones they thought it worthwhile meeting. In their turn the manufacturers had received detailed information about the specific demands of the buyers interested in their output, so that they could present proposals that would accurately meet expectations.

“Incontri d’Autunno” in fact turns the traditional exhibition on its head: It is not up to the buyers to visit the company’s stand, but the companies who go to meet their potential clients in a specially set-up area. Giovanni Tricca emphasised the point that: “Contacts are carefully planned and this allows Italian jewellers to optimise their participation also in terms of time and out-of-pocket expenses. We try to keep chance encounters to a minimum between those who have products to sell and every potential buyer.”

The attention of the organisers now turns to OroArezzo: the thirty-first grand jewellery exhibition is scheduled to take place in the spring from 10 to 13 April 2010.
