Garrard continues to create jewellery heirlooms for tomorrow with the introduction of the Tudor Rose collection - unveiled and launched, for the first time at Baselworld 2013.
The first collection by new Garrard Head Designer, Sara Prentice, Tudor Rose is a testament to beautiful, intricate, timeless yet forward-thinking design and craftsmanship. Sara cleverly changes the design throughout the collection with various innovative interpretations of the Tudor Rose, known traditionally as the floral heraldic emblem of England.
This new collection consisting of approximately 30 pieces is a nod to Garrard’s classic design heritage but offers today’s modern woman a more stylised and versatile jewellery set. ‘I wanted to offer our clients the opportunity to be more in control of how they wear these pieces not only adapting but transforming them to be worn for different wardrobe occasions’ says Prentice, who has already designed numerous high jewellery suites and additions to existing Garrard.
A single delicate Tudor Rose pendant forms the crux of the collection. A hand-crafted ruby, diamond and pearl high jewellery suite can be worn in 5 different ways, breaking down into a single pendant or brooch with a removable tassel. Prentice says ‘the idea is for the set to be worn in multiple ways. The necklace can be disconnected and adapted by hand, without the use of tools or a workshop’. This traditional concept creates an heirloom piece that can be passed down for generations to come and is available with a matching cuff and earrings.
Prentice’s attention to detail is apparent, incorporating delicate and discreet pinnacles for the wearer. The white diamond Tudor Rose ring is features three layers that create a multi-dimensional finish, starting with a diamond pave concave base through to two levels of diamond petals which culminate with a focal rose cut diamond or ruby. Paying tribute to their international Royal history for creating tiaras and crowns, Garrard introduce two tiaras and two headdresses in the Tudor Rose collection. The headdress creates a wonderfully modern and delicate concept with pear-drop diamonds that rest elegantly against the forehead.
The tiaras are created with a spray of Tudor Rose motifs that are elegantly balanced with pear-drop diamonds. Each tiara can be matched to a suite created with tumbling Tudor Rose motifs.
